Manage equipment subtypes

Who can do this: Superuser Admin  ·  Where: Dashboard → Administration → Manage Subtypes

Subtypes refine equipment types — e.g. distinguishing kinds of panelboards — and drive which attributes and field orders apply. This page adds, edits, hides, and deletes them.

Filter the list

Narrow Existing Subtypes by Type and free-text Search. A Superuser additionally gets a Tenant selector — including System (Globals) for the shared subtypes every tenant inherits.

Add a subtype

  1. Pick the parent Type (required).
  2. Enter the Subtype Name (required) and optionally a Code.
  3. Leave Active checked unless you're staging it for later.
  4. Submit — the table updates in place.

Edit, hide, and delete

Each row offers inline actions:

  • Edit the name/code/active flag directly in the row, then save.
  • Hide / Unhide — for global (system) subtypes your tenant doesn't use, hiding removes them from your dropdowns without affecting other tenants. Unhide brings them back.
  • Delete — permanent. The confirmation spells out the side effect: "Delete this subtype? This also removes any hide records tenants have set for it."

Hide, don't delete, for globals

If a system-wide subtype just doesn't apply to your work, hiding is the right tool — deletion of shared subtypes affects everyone who inherits them.
